About Community Kindergartens
Community kindys are an alternative to school-based kindergarten programs. They operate within a purpose-built building that is not located on a school site.
The Department of Education supports community kindys by providing teachers, education assistants and an operating grant.
Each kindy is managed by a parent committee in collaboration with the teaching staff.
Families are an important and active part of the kindy community. Parents can help by offering their skills or volunteering for odd jobs.
Community kindys are a team effort!
